As a Consulting Associate, you will assist FPS Partners with a range professional services related to business valuation, forensic accounting, and transaction advisory for clients. A Consulting Associate will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and assist with all facets of delivering client services on behalf of FPS.
FPS Consulting Associate Role, Technical Skills, and Qualifications
As a Consulting Associate, your Day to Day may include:
Performs and reports findings in any of the following service areas:
Business Valuation:
Financial analysis of privately held businesses, financial & discounted cash flow analysis, application of transaction multiples, industry & economic research, and other related valuation adjustments.
Develops written reports and schedules for use in disputes, management/transaction planning, tax (estate & gift), and other purposes.
Forensic Accounting:
Calculation of economic damages, forensic accounting, business valuation, and other financial analyses related to client disputes, and expert witness services.
Develops written reports and schedules for use in litigation proceedings.
Transaction Advisory:
Performs accounting & financial analysis, due diligence, quality of earnings, accounting adjustments, customer & business segment analysis, working capital & debt analysis, and other related assessments.
Develops transaction advisory reports and schedules specific to key issues such as quality of earnings and due diligence reports.
Builds and maintains trusted relationships with diverse group of clients, referral sources, and co-workers.
Assists in identifying client engagement scope, manages day–to-day acitivies of completing cleint deliverables, and takes ownership for overall quality control of client deliverables.
Conducts meaningful analysis and gathers necessary information from stakeholders on a variety of accounting and finance related areas throughout the engagement process.
Utilizes firm resources in an efficient and effective manner to meet productivity goals.
Monitors workload to meet revenue production expectations and performs timely reviews of work products prior to submission to a supervisor.
Provides input on the preparation of client proposals, furthers existing client relationships, grows personal networks, and active participation in civic, business, and professional organizations.
Maintains the required countining education for licensing requirements (as applicable to certifications).
Assists and attendance at firm functions, team events, and recruiting activities.
Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization. Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
Other Duties:
Performs other services as requested by supervisors or leadership.
Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties.
Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
Required Qualifications and Technical Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
Master’s or equivalent degree preferred.
Certifications:
Relevant credentials are preferred (i.e. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF); Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA); Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA); etc.)
Work Experience:
3-7+ years of direct experience in business valuation, forensic accounting, transaction advisory, or related area is required.
Direct experience performing business valuations and forensic accounting procedures is required.
1+ years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Special Skills:
Must be able to effectively work on multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adjust priorities appropriately in an evolving work environment with shifting time frames.
Must have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills to professionally and appropriately communicate with a diverse group of individuals both internally and externally.
Must possess a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Must be technically proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, and familiar with relevant on-line databases (i.e. Capital IQ, Economic databases, and Research databases, etc.)
Other Considerations:
May be required to work extended hours during the workweek and/or on weekends to meet client need.
May be required to travel to and work from different client locations.
Flexible hybrid work environment (in person office time is required).
